Boudoir Style Guide

There are so many different types of lingerie out there, the choices can be instantly overwhelming! But that is ok! I am here to guide you in every aspect of your session including style!

wardrobe ideas

  • The Classic Bra and Panty Set: This a classic and absolutely killer combo in any boudoir session! Lace, velvet, and satin are instant winners. Bras do best with an underwire for boudoir as they help lift and shape your breast. Panties have endless possibilities. High waisted panties offer a timeless feminine look, thongs and cheeky underwear help show off your assets, while high cut panties help your legs look longer. Just be sure to have a bra and panty set that fits well.

  • Corsets and Bustiers: Corsets and bustiers are a lingerie classic.  Both are ideal for smoothing and slimming the waistline. Just be sure when investing in these that the length of the corsets or bustier is long enough to come down to the panty line to avoid love handles.

  • One Piece Teddies: One piece Teddies can be a very versatile piece of lingerie and can photography well. And the best thing...there are a ton of budget friendly beautiful pieces that can be found on Amazon and Shein!

  • Accessories: The list of accessory pieces is endless! Bring your favorite leather jacket or blazer with a bra and panty set (or opt for the nude look with a jacket.), Robes, Kimonos, Cardigans, Denim, Oh my! Even try your favorite hat! The poses and possibilities are endless offering a fun and flirty dynamic to your photos.

  • Fishnets and Thigh High Hosiery: A classic, sexy look. Fishnet and thigh highs can add a really exciting element to your photos. Darted thigh highs can give you that classic, old school feel while fishnet can add a lot of spice to your photos

  • High Heels and Boots: Don't forget your heels and zip up boots! These can extend the look of your legs and make you look taller! Plus they can make for some killer detail shots.

  • Menswear: A men's button down can look amazing if done right! Why does this work so well? Its that fantasy of rolling out of bed and throwing the first thing you can grab on...his shirt. A slightly oversized tee can also work great in this scenario too.

  • Dresses: This one might surprise you, but boudoir doesn't have to be lingerie only! A dress that makes you feel confident and elegant will do the trick too! A subtle unzipping of the dress is playful and extremely powerful all in one shot!

The Week leading up to your session

  • HYDRATE, HYDRATE, HYDRATE! Your skin will thank you for this! Make sure to drink plenty of water the week of your shoot. This gives your skin a refreshed and healthy glow!

  • Exfoliate. To help your skin glow even more it is a good idea to exfoliate. This is best to do 2 or 3 days before your session to avoid any irritation and redness in your photos.

  • If you wax, please make sure you leave enough time for the waxed areas to calm down if you tend to have any reactions from waxing.

  • Really treat yourself and get a MANICURE and PEDICURE. As guilty as I am of this, chipped nail polish can really draw the eyes attention in photographs. So make sure any nail polish you are wearing is free from chips. At a minimum apply a clear topcoat only to your fingers and toes!

  • Avoid spray tans and self-tanning lotions for the week leading up to your session. It will not look natural in the camera, and the last thing we want is for you to appear orange and take away from your natural beauty!

  • THE DAY OF your appointment be sure to wear lose clothing to your session. It is also a good idea to go braless. This will avoid any unwanted wear marks in the skin.

  • BE CONFIDENT! I know sometimes this is easier said than done, but you are beautiful! Believe that! And this session is all about showing you how beautiful you are! So don't stress out about what you consider your flaws and imperfections. Love yourself, and you will love the art that we create together!
